Decimal scale made in Germany, late 19th c. Loose weights are placed on the suspended plate and small weights in the cup above the chains. The rotio of the system is 10:1, hence the name "DECIMAL scale". The load force is transferred to the unequal arm beam by two rods, one connected directly to the back of the platform, the other to a V-shaped lever on which the front of the platform rests. This type of scale was patented by Alois Quintenz in 1821, and is particularly suited to the metric system of weights. Wood and iron. Made in a range of sizes for use in shops and warehouses.

The inventor of this system was Friedrich Alois Quintenz, born 1774 in Gegenbach Germany. First Patent 9 Feb. 1822. He died short after his patent on the 17 April 1822. Jean-Babtiste Schwilgue made some good corrections on this system which helped to send this scale system on his famous way.
