Money scale by S. Henry, London, c1774, for weighing the guinea, half, and quarter. The center lever is spring-loaded upwards to immobilize the beam when not in use. Retractable slot gauge at the front for checking the diameter and thickness of coins ( thus the instrument is called a counterfeit coin detector ). Brass base slides out of the grooves on the lid and is stored inside the green box. 5" long
